let’s do this thing.
We’ve partnered with MPOWERD to bring a temporary lighting solution to our program school, the Butula Hekima Academy in Kenya. Context around our initiative: the school reopened in late January, with nearly 90% of students returning to classes after a nearly 10-month hiatus due to C19. BHA has tried to hold evening classes in the past, without much effective learning or success. School Director Bob Lawali is pushing these classes now to help with the learning gap and catch students up on material and classes.
Two of the classrooms are without any power source or lighting. We are working to acquire Luci Core Lights which will be used by students, and teachers for evening classes when the sun sets. We estimate that if we can add 24-48 lights to the classrooms, BHA will be able to hold dual classroom evening classes, for at least 4 days a week, educating nearly the entire student body (300+ students) and closing the learning gap in a matter of months.
With your help - we’ll be able to purchase and ship these lights to the school in the next three weeks for use in May. Join us today in this effort to help rebuild and strengthen our program school and it’s students!
Thank you,
- KLTW Team
